The BBC Carlos Castaneda
J e do not need to present Carlos Castaneda, his stories''psycho-shamanic''have sold millions of copies once and it is no exaggeration to consider him as a pioneer movement of spiritual / new age modern.
Those who are well informed know very well that his books are fiction (there never was a Don Juan), it is not authentic shamanic teachings and life of'' Witches''(women Carlos) ended tragically by suicide.
But Carlos is not an idiot, his books still reflect a spiritual mythology Universal in which millions of readers have found inspiration. It is for this reason have often heard:'' have them mad if it's fiction, his teachings have opened my mind''. Maybe they have opened people's minds (what does that really mean ?.... could debate a long time), but Castaneda does not seem to have benefited from his own teachings .... just read those who rub to understand that it was not a wise, but especially manifested''qualities''of a totalitarian and manipulative guru.
The inauthenticity of Castaneda is extremely well documented through the books of Richard De Mille , fikes Jay Courtney, Margaret Runyan Castaneda (his ex-wife) and Amy Wallace , one of many women who formed his''harem.''
For those not wishing to invest in extensive research, here is a BBC documentary that sums up the controversy: Tales from the Jungle: Carlos Castaneda and The Shaman.
